Arran

Last week Kev and I went to Arran and see what to put our efforts into for a Rab sponsored project called ‘Full Circle’. Kev has been part of the Rab team for some time, although I am not connected to Rab I am still looking forward to being involved with the adventure as Kev explains on his blog. It was an exciting day with loads of inspirational lines to have a look at, hopefully we will get back there later this month and into October.

At the weekend I was working on Ben Nevis for Maximum Adventure. Debbie and Shayam enjoyed the experience and did very well dealing with the athletes running the Ben Nevis Race although the marshalling was something to be desired. I was thinking of having a public rant about it on my blog but I think I will put it to bed and just bore my mates ‘dripping’ about it at the crag! The joys of working the Ben path!

Today Dot, Kev and I were back hunting out potential new routes in Glencoe before retreating back to Glen Nevis (via the cafe) to get back on the project at Wave Buttress. With work commitments and the trip to the Alps last month its been over two months since touching the route and realising it was going to be touch and go as to whether I could actually ‘do’ the route. With no warm up and one abseil inspection I was able to make it all the way to the last three moves without too much hassle, something I was pretty happy with. These last moves are still brutal for me but the rock seemed to be in prime condition, no excuses but to just keep trying it this week! Although overlooked whilst focusing on Cu Sith there is also another new line in the vicinity that Kev managed to beast his way up without much cleaning, fingers crossed there maybe another surge of interest in Wave Buttress before the season is out…………
