Still allot of snow about despite the thaw

Although the forecast has been somewhat off-putting, we have managed two big days in the mountains. Yesterday we started from Kinlochleven and managed a swift round of Sgurr Eilde, Binnein Mor and Na Gruagaichean. It was a bit sloppy in places but getting up high we certainly managed to make a good winter day of it, even though it did feel mild and sweaty inside the goretex.

It was certainly a nav day

Today felt completely different, with significant snowfall overnight the hills certainly looked more aestheticly pleasing if nothing else. We marched up the North ridge of Sgurr a’Mhaim before battling strong crosswinds on the Devils Ridge before heading on to complete the Ring of Steall. Conditions were a little soft and deep underfoot but not significant enough to slow us down, the sun even came out to give us some fantastic light at times during the day – superb.
