Another superb blue sky day on Curved Ridge today. John and Simon have some alpine experience but were keen to gain some more knowledge before tackling the Weissmies South Ridge later this year. Curved Ridge is perfect training for alpine terrain and it was certainly in alpine condition today requiring careful footing using our crampons on rock, snow and slushy ice. We topped out just after 2 then spent the next hour on the summit looking at simple hoists and the use of prussiks to get out of crevasses. I have never spent so long on a summit never mind in winter but today there wasn’t a breath of wind and not a cloud in the sky, what better place to stand about and learn a few tricks!
