All four seasons!
I was back working for Lochaber Guides today and with a very wintry forecast we headed to Glencoe for a day looking at Alpine skills ready for Prashant’s forthcoming trip to Chamonix.
We started with an ascent of Gearr Aonach via the Zig-Zags followed by a traverse into Coire nan Lochan to climb Broad Gully on excellent firm snow. After struggling upto the summit in a snow storm (yes SNOW) we made our way back down a slushy NE Ridge. We left the van in the rain, stood ontop of Gearr Aonach in the sunshine, climbed Broad Gully in windy Alpine conditions, then finished on the summit in a proper Scottish snow storm – all in a days work!
