Last Sunday I was out with Colin and Ben who are off on their first Alpine trip together this summer. The idea of the day was to equip them with as many Alpine skills as I could to help them prepare for their big plans. We aimed for, what was to be quite a busy Curved Ridge. Al was there with a group of AMI Trainees whilst Andy looked to be enjoying guiding a happy customer up and down the ridge. We used the lower half to cover taking and dropping coils, moving together and simul-climbing before pitching a couple of sections and transitioning from one system to another. We descended in similar fashion, moving together, lowering and a breif touch on abseiling before scooting off to the Ballachulish Bridge to practise crevasse rescues. We encountered all four seasons but to be honest it was never that bad, a great day out and superb to see these two guys again with big aspirations and plans for the future.
The last two days I have been working with Bill providing a Summer Mountain leader course for the West Highland College. The course will last 6 days in total so will get a proper write up done toward the end of the week.
