Squeezing The Clanger
Ken, Dot and I ended up back on Ben Nevis today and managed to dither away a fair amount of time being indecisive about what to climb. We ended up on The Clanger (IV,5) which was a consolidation route really. The first pitch had some nice climbing especially as the initial icefall is steep and thin in places. The second pitch was more like caving than climbing. I had expected a tight squeeze but shuffling sideways before removing helmet, rack, phone and even flapjacks from chest pockets before exhaling to make sure you don’t get stuck was utter rubbish! Well you cant climb allot and like them all I suppose…….
If you are a climber that enjoys climbing, don’t climb The Clanger
