Today I guided Nick, AJ and Rich up the Ben Nevis path for West Coast Mountain Guides. The weather was sublime first thing this morning. With barely a cloud in the sky and a bite in the air, we had perfect conditions for our planned walk to the highest point in the UK.
By corner four conditions changed rapidly requiring crampons and navigation to safely make the plateau. It was here that most people without the necessary equipment sensibly turned around, congratulating themselves on clear and sound decision making. We battled on in strengthening winds to make the summit just before 2pm. The guys are all film students so we tried to get some good footage along the way, but tired legs and with the addition of blisters it was a very slow descent. Well done guys!
