Today I had a day of rock climbing ‘work’ with Marie who was keen to test herself and second some more challenging routes. Marie climbs well indoors, leading and seconding routes upto 6c but hits psychological hurdles leading anything harder than Severe outdoors, so today was just a good chance to get out on rock and do some climbing. With the possibility of a thundery downpour we played it safe and went West out to Ring Crags of Ardnamurchan. Here the climbing is on excellent rough Gabbro set in spectacular surroundings and the likelihood of seeing anyone else minimal. As it happens we didn’t see anyone all day and climbed 10 brilliant pitches including: Oswald (HS,4b), Greta Gabbro (VS,4b), Yir (VS,4c), Claude (HVS,5a), Up-Pompeii (E1,5b) and finishing with Return of the Jedi (E2,5c). We both loved every minute of it, what a day!
