A few days ago I was working for Skye Guides taking John C up the Inaccessible Pinnacle. It was the day after the storms and local flooding had made big changes to the path leading up the West Ridge of Sgurr Dearg. Although it was a pretty soggy day coupled with thick mist John ticked off an important Munro which leads him ever closer to completion.

I have since been nursing a light ankle injury and had to give up a great days work on Skye which was a little disappointing, but I consoled myself with a bit of belay duty for Joe in ‘The Tube’ at Dunkeld. This venue is Scotland’s best ‘dry tooling’ venue which to those who dont know means climbing very steep rock using ice axes and crampons. Its physical and gymnastic which isnt a type of climbing I am used to but I had a shot on one of the classics and could hardly touch it! Anyway, Joe worked his project and we even got a quick trad climb in at Dunkeld on the way home.

Today I was out guiding John W up Tower Ridge. The forecast for light rain never materialised so we made short work of the ascent on brilliant dry rock before descending Ledge Route. A fantastic day and surely one of the best Mountaineering days in the area.
