Golden Oldy
I spent today as Al Halewood‘s shadow again, observing as he guided Mark and Steve up the Aonach Mor classic – Golden Oldy (II). The lower half was totally on grass but the upper half was covered in enough refrozen snow to make it feel nice and wintry. Both Mark and Steve have climbed a good amount of winter routes so today allowed them the lead the entry pitches before we all got a bit cold and Al took them up and over the top. Despite the lack of snow in the lower half, the route was good fun and it wasn’t as wet as forecast either – bonus!
